It's action movie fare in the theater of your mind, and as long at that's what you're expecting, you're likely to enjoy it.īehind Blue Eyes is going to be the next big thing in science fiction! This book has everything! Action, adventure, romance, self-discovery, and the human urge for freedom even in cyborgs! We meet Nephilim (I loved the use of biblical names) who is a partial cyborg who begins experiencing doubts about the perfect system they live in. Don't expect a sociology textbook, a nuanced exploration of the disadvantages of augmentation vs human evolution, nor deeply nuanced characters. The two cautions would be 1) some non-consensual close calls that might be triggering, or 2) trouble with suspension of disbelief - mostly from tropes of the genre (mega-cities that span huge areas, a dictator who demands brainwashed levels of obedience, monocultures, cyborgs that look human but are ten times better and with telltale glowing eyes, etc). The violence is well described in a cinematic style the sex fades to black after some scene setting and nudity. It's heavy on the action and heavy on the sexuality. The book explores a hyper-consumerist society, and how the main character copes with her role in enforcing its norms. The story is fun and easy to read, and the voice acting is very good. And i'm quite sure, that anyone who like this genre will listen to it with great pleasure.

Overall, this is very, very good Cyberpunk/Sci-Fi book. Also, big kudos to David Reimer! His voice and narrative is wonderful. For sure i'll listen to other books from author. I couldn't stop myself from listening this book and to be honest, i've finished it within few days. There is a lot of action, a lot ot thoughts. At the beginning of story i was little confused, but every piece of puzzle given by author fitted later to whole picture. Characters that we will meet are well described, you will either love them or hate them (which is good!).

Author captured human nature (the good and the bad) and used it to describe dystopian city that glows on the outside but it is rotten in the inside. The world described looks like possible branch of our history. As in headline, and that story will release you only on the end of it with promise of return.
